Overview
Overview
The auction is the heart of a chit fund. A group of members contributes every month, and they bid for the monthly pool.
For Foxl Chits Fund, a platform built for UK users, we built the live auction as one part of a larger system. It sits alongside a customer app, an associates app, a business website, and the cloud infrastructure behind them. This page is about the auction.

02
Challenge
Every Bid Matters
Picture 20 people watching the same auction. One person places a bid.
Everyone needs to see it. Now.
Not after refreshing the page. Not a few seconds later. Not when the app finally catches up.
In an auction, a late update is more than an annoyance. People end up bidding against numbers they can no longer see, and nobody can be sure their own bid went through.
The challenge was simple to state and hard to build: every participant sees the same thing at the same moment.

03
Solution
A Live Scoreboard
We built the auction to work like a scoreboard at a game. The moment the score changes, everyone in the stadium sees it.
A normal app has to keep asking the server whether anything has changed. We turned that around. Using WebSockets, each participant’s app stays connected to the server, so when a bid comes in, the server pushes it out to everyone at once.
No refreshing. No waiting. No wondering whether your bid went through.
The screen looks simple. The engineering behind that simplicity isn’t.

KEY FEATURES
What the Auction Does
Feature 1 - Instant Updates
Every bid appears on every participant’s screen as it happens.
Feature 2 - One Shared View
Everyone sees the same current bid at the same moment.
Feature 3 - Clear Confirmation
Participants know whether their bid went through.
Feature 4 - Connected to the Platform
The auction works with the customer and associates apps, payments, and user management, not on its own.
05
THE OUTCOME
Live and in Use
The auction is live at foxlchits.com, running real chit fund auctions for real members. What was once a largely offline process now happens on a screen, with everyone seeing the same thing at the same time.
That’s the difference between an app that shows an auction and one that actually runs one.
